How it works
Enter usable battery capacity, current and target charge, electricity price, and charging efficiency. Energy from the grid is battery energy divided by efficiency.
Formula
kWh required = capacity × (target% − current%) ÷ 100. Grid kWh = required ÷ (efficiency ÷ 100). Cost = grid kWh × price.
Example
Charging a 75 kWh battery from 20% to 80% at $0.18/kWh and 90% efficiency uses 45 kWh at the battery and 50 kWh from the grid, about $9.00.
